[sales sunday] I wasn't going to sell it

Hey Reader,

A week ago I built something to solve a problem in my own work - today it's a paid product. I'm excited and I'm nervous - and it got me thinking about all the things we often make for ourselves and never think to sell.

Why I hit send on a launch I wasn't "ready" for
3 things I notice my most successful business friends all do differently
A 5-minute baby-steps exercise for the thing you've been putting off

💬 Let's talk about... not waiting to feel "ready"

On Friday I launched something I hadn't planned to: a new Claude skill that I built primarily to help me move my own Custom GPTs to Claude.

And I was surprised how nervous it made me feel, hitting send on a "new" type of offer (and a "new" type of sales page, built with Claude)!

I've never sold a Claude skill before, I only built it a few days beforehand, and I don't have any testimonials, case studies or testers yet. But I had a gut feeling it would help people, so I went for it.

This is how I've always done business: test ideas, launch imperfectly, without waiting to be "ready" (because I never will be!)

Does it feel a bit scary sometimes? Yes, but I really have nothing to lose.

If nobody buys it, I've spent a few days building something I'll use anyway. If people do buy it, I've just created a new revenue stream I didn't have last week.

This is how all my amazing business friends operate too: the ones actually getting somewhere and making money aren't the ones who waited to have it all figured out or built the most polished thing.

Here's what I notice they all have in common instead...

—  3 things I notice they all do differently

1. They make quick decisions

They don't spend three weeks "thinking" or waiting to feel certain. They trust their gut and move (especially right now, when AI is shifting this fast & nobody can keep up anyway).

2. They trust "the nudge"

The "this could help someone else" feeling. The thing you built for yourself or the shortcut you use daily could become the most sellable thing you've got.

3. They give themselves permission to experiment

New offers, new formats, new approaches - they'd rather launch ten things and learn from all of them than launch one "perfect" thing after a year of overthinking.

Which of these 3 feels hardest for you right now?
Making decisions before feeling certain
Trusting that your offer can help others
Being brave enough to experiment with something new

💡Something to try... baby steps

I have a tiny challenge for you if this is all hitting home.

Grab your journal, set a timer for 5 minutes and answer the following.

  1. What have I been putting off creating/ selling?
  2. What are you actually waiting for. Be really honest here - is it feeling "ready"? A sign from the universe? Certainty that it'll work?
  3. What is the smallest step you can take to move forward this week?

Then go do that tiny step! Not the whole thing, just the tiny step.

That's it! Hit reply and let me know how you got on?

Why We Ditched ChatGPT for Claude - And the Use Cases That Blew Our Minds (Part 1)

I pulled in a few of my mastermind buddies - Destini Copp, Monica Froese, Kate Kordsmeier, and Jodi Bourne - to talk about why so many of us have switched from ChatGPT to Claude, and the use cases that have honestly blown our minds. We get into what's different about Claude, what Skills can actually do, and where Cowork fits into the real work you're already doing.

“You don't have to do it all when it comes to AI, but think of something that would genuinely take some work off your plate and start with that.”
